The Abbvie project was the redevelopment of an existing plant formally Abbotts , Deane Roofing & Cladding had installed the roofing and cladding on the existing building. The new project involved the construction of 4 blocks with some integration to the existing building. The building was to remain in use which gave rise to many safety and logistical considerations.

Block 10 included administration and canteen facilities over two floors. Block 20. Block 21 and Block 40 included production, storage and distribution spaces.

The systems used were standard proprietary roofing and cladding systems but installed to the highest pharmaceutical standard. This included FM Global and onerous air tightness criteria.

The break-up of cladding and fenestration, the changes in building plan incorporating preformed corners, all required detailed planning in design and procurement. To ensure a smooth transition from cladding to glazing and back to cladding including changes to elevational colours, the procurement of panels had to be detailed and scheduled in minute detail.

This obviously required the design to be well advanced of the procurement, which for a fast track programme was at times very challenging. We worked in conjunction with Project Managers and Designers Jacobs Engineering to maintain the progress ahead of the procurement.

The design of interfaces needed to facilitate the schedule progress by allowing all trades continue independently of each other with the final trims and flashing merging the systems together.

All products and systems installed were FM approved and this was monitored and tracked through or QMS during the delivery and installation periods.Quality was automatically a Clients expectation based on their own industry standards and practices.

Commitment and support from all parties ensured the project was completed without any major safety incidents.

The project was delivered on time and within budget.

Brennan Associates, Quantity Surveyors have worked on many projects with Deane Roofing and Cladding where they were specialist subcontractors for the Roofing and Cladding elements. Each project has been unique in its own way challenging the Design Team and Contractors alike. In these situations, we have found their team to be engaging, responsive, and technically proficient in resolving issues as they arose.

They have always maintained a high standard of workmanship, management, budget control and coordination with meticulous attention to detail being exerted throughout the projects. We would have no hesitation in recommending them for commercial roofing and cladding projects.
