The Biggleswade Retail Park just of the A1, is a new development designed by RGP Architects and constructed by Ellmer Construction. Deane Roofing & Cladding installed the full envelope including all roofing and wall cladding systems.
The cladding comprised of Kingspan Architectural wall panel, designed and laid out in mixed lengths and colours as well as some high-quality Optimo panelling to entrance areas. In addition, variety to the design was added by introducing Petrach Rainscreen system on aluminium carrier sub rail framework.
The roof area totalled over 20,000 sqm, almost the equivalent of three football pitches was primarily Kingspan RW panel with integrated rooflights and some canopy areas of Kingzip with soffit systems to the underside.
In addition to the main envelope, we installed ancillary systems such as rainwater disposal, parapets, soffits and canopies.
Our approach to retail units of this nature is to recognise that ultimately the building will have multiple tenants and the highest quality must be offered to satisfy the landlord’s reliance on a satisfied tenant as if each unit was a separate building.
The project was phased to facilitate the trading requirements of some existing retailers whilst the new facility was being constructed. We were able to satisfy this requirement and meet the multiple milestones set at handover.
We are proud to have delivered this project without safety incident and to the quality the client expected. This was achieved on time and within budget.
