1,500 sqm of Kingspan Benchmark Evolution
1,800 sqm of Kingspan RW panel.
800 sqm Paralon FM system.
This new office building was built by the IDA to attract high technology companies to Athlone as a new growth centre for business to accompany new developments by Jazz Pharmaceuticals and Alexion to name just two newcomers to this border town of Westmeath and Roscommon.
Deane Roofing & Cladding were engaged by Kilcawley Construction to supply and install the roofing and cladding systems to the building.
The roofing comprised of two systems a composite RW panel from Kingspan duo pitch with parapet gutters and single ridge. The stairwells and annexes were waterproofed with Paralon bituminous built-up roofing. Quality was central to the installation and an ITP was developed to schedule and track the inspections.
The cladding was part of the new Benchmark Evolution System launched by Kingspan. This system is a high-quality premium composite cladding panel which has recessed joints and an aluminium tray outer skin. It is a modular system which makes the setting out and installation an exact science where tolerances are demanding in order to get the best possible finish.
The panels are ordered well in advance of the structure and the draughting and setting out on CAD and BIM is extremely important in the process.
Once the building is erected all dimensions have to be surveyed and checked for rail position and alignment to ensure the cladding will fit into position. There is no site adjustment. The setting out and establishing datums for the cladding is vital and to ensure success this has to be respected and afforded the time to make it work.
The finished project was of the highest standard.
