2500 sqm of Bauder Thermofol
Deane Roofing was appointed by JJ Rhattigan to install a high-quality Bauder Thermofol single ply PVC roof membrane system. This system would replicate a traditional metal standing seam roof on the National School in Oughterard, but to modern functional and performance standards.
The design of the school included a series of mono pitch roof slopes with mono ridge fascia and barge trims. As can be seen from the photographs the finished project achieved an extremely high quality and looks impressive. It is a credit to all who contributed to its design and construction.
The parallel lines of the profile seams on the roof are defined and consistent to represent a traditional metal covering. The use of membrane roof gives much more flexibility, in terms of thermal insulation and detailing at perimeters which would have proven much more difficult in traditional metal roofing.
The Bauder system also offered a fully insured material and workmanship warranty. The build sequence offered some challenges as the blockwork and plastering trades needed to be complete before the perimeter detailing could be finished to the roof slopes.
The roof drainage was designed to be external with the provision of external gutters and downpipes at the base of each slope which is the more desirable form of surface water drainage in roof design.
