Deane Roofing & Cladding were delighted to be appointed the contractor to roof the new Killanin stand at the famous Galway Racecourse ,we were also the contractor who installed the roof to the original stand back in 1999.

The new stand designed by BDP Architects London is futuristic in comparison to the old and provides an impressive facility for the spectators.

The project was very complex due to the fact the roof was curved in several different planes, longitudinally, in cross-section and on the plan. The systems were carefully chosen to allow for this flexibility. The streamline front fascia in a louvre section created the transition from roof to the soffit. This too was curved on plan and cross-section. The soffit comprised of a Brett Martin Marlon ST polycarbonate Multiwall framed plank.

The design concept was to allow light to penetrate through the roof and soffit but at the same time provide effective covering from the elements.

The translucent materials also allowed for computer controlled coloured lighting displays to suit different occasions.

The installation was made more complex by the need to install these systems completely and at the same time provide a safe system of work which did not penetrate through the coverings. The design had to be clever to allow joints to co-locate with safety anchors and systems and allow the systems to be finished as the work progressed whilst working at significant heights.

Due to the translucent material, it was vitally important that the systems installed were kept clean and free of debris as any residual items, such as fixings would be seen in the light.

We are proud of our involvement in the new Killanin Stand which is a great advertisement for the Course, Horse Racing Ireland and in general the west of Ireland.

Brennan Associates, Quantity Surveyors have worked on many projects with Deane Roofing and Cladding where they were specialist subcontractors for the Roofing and Cladding elements. Each project has been unique in its own way challenging the Design Team and Contractors alike. In these situations, we have found their team to be engaging, responsive, and technically proficient in resolving issues as they arose.

They have always maintained a high standard of workmanship, management, budget control and coordination with meticulous attention to detail being exerted throughout the projects. We would have no hesitation in recommending them for commercial roofing and cladding projects.
